For several weekends in January, much of the southeast United States experienced dangerous ice storms and freezing conditions. Heavy precipitation turned into ice covering powerlines and roads, posing a major threat to crucial infrastructure.
Many businesses were forced to close due to the dangerous road conditions, and employees struggled to make their way to and from work on the icy roads. While some nonessential businesses were able to close due to the weather, companies with security solutions still relied on these services throughout the weekend.
VirtuGuard™ remote video monitoring, or virtual guarding, can overcome the obstacles that severe weather can cause for businesses in need of a security solution.

No Icy Commutes
In severe winter weather like ice storms, roads can ice over, making it dangerous or even impossible to travel them. In areas that rarely experience snow or ice, the infrastructure for de-icing and treating roads before or after a winter storm may not exist. This means it can sometimes take days for road conditions to be safe enough for the average driver.
Security Guards may not be able to leave their homes or arrive safely at a client’s property in these conditions. However, a business may still require security services to protect onsite personnel or the property itself.
From remote Command Centers, skilled security personnel can keep a protective watch over the site without risking unsafe travel conditions. With the aid of Artificial Intelligence and other advanced video analytics, the Command Center receives alarms triggered by abnormal or suspicious activity. Trained security Agents then respond instantly, determining whether an alarm is false or legitimate and taking action to resolve verified incidents.
VirtuGuard™ Agents can also conduct virtual patrols of a property. Similar to foot patrols or drive-by patrols, Agents can monitor an entire property through strategically placed surveillance cameras.
Remote video monitoring can secure and protect property without requiring security personnel to be physically present at the location.

Backup Generators and Internet Connection
VirtuGuard™ Command Centers are equipped with reliable backup generators and internet connection to provide all promised services without lapses in coverage. In the event that our central Command Center loses power, our backup generators immediately activate to ensure that no suspicious or illegal activity goes undetected.
Additionally, VirtuGuard™ Command Centers have backup capabilities for internet connection should the building lose power or should it lose connection to the primary internet source.
Commercial and residential properties secured by VirtuGuard™ are covered as long as the client property itself is connected to power and the internet, keeping the surveillance cameras and other security infrastructure operational. Solar power and cellular data are reliable backups for client properties, especially remote locations, to remain connected to our Command Centers at all times.
Offsite Command Center Backup
While backup power and internet sources are effective in keeping Command Centers fully operational, VirtuGuard™ has alternate Command Center locations thousands of miles away from each other. In the case of a natural disaster, like flooding, earthquakes, tornados, etc., VirtuGuard™ can continue monitoring and securing client properties if the central Command Center is incapacitated.
24/7 Security Coverage
No matter the environmental conditions, VirtuGuard™ guarantees 24/7 security coverage. Severe winter weather can pose major challenges for securing a property with onsite Security Guards, potentially preventing Guards from making it to and from the location.
VirtuGuard™ remote video monitoring is an effective and efficient security solution for commercial and residential businesses. Rain or shine, snow or ice, our Command Centers proactively monitor client properties for any sign of abnormal activity, taking action instantly to resolve verified incidents.
