Illegal Activity in Subsidized Housing Stopped by Remote Video Monitoring

Illegal Activity in Subsidized Housing Stopped by Remote Video Monitoring

A subsidized housing development implemented VirtuGuard™ remote video monitoring to monitor resident activity in the common areas. The property management was struggling with repeat issues with residents using drugs, committing act of violence, and allowing nonresidents to enter and reside on the property.

In the example below, VirtuGuard™ was able to intervene in illegal activity taking place in the stairwell of the residence.

Drug Use Caught in Residential Stairwell

Early one morning, VirtuGuard™ Agents on duty observed two males lying on the floor of a stairwell. Upon further investigation, the men were observed doing illegal drugs. Additionally, Agents noted that the men were not residents and were likely homeless.

Agents activated Voice Commands through speakers in the stairwell to instruct the men to leave the property. The men did not follow the commands and remained in the stairwell. To escalate the situation, VirtuGuard™ called the local police to report the trespass. Officers were observed arriving onsite soon after.

Once police arrived, VirtuGuard™ activated another Voice Command to alert the men that police were on the property. Upon hearing this announcement, the men gathered their belongings and exited the stairwell and the building. Police met them at the exit and escorted the men off of the property without further issue.
