Shortly before 4 o’clock in the morning during a manual proactive patrol of a low-income housing community, VirtuGuard™ Agents observed residents vacating their apartments as the fire emergency lights flash. Agents monitored the live surveillance footage throughout the building but did not observe any smoke.
Minutes later, a firetruck arrived on the scene, and firefighters inspected the building, finding no sign of a fire. Firefighters then turned off the fire alarm.
VirtuGuard™ Agents reviewed the surveillance camera footage prior to the alarm being triggered. Agents observed that a male and female leaving an apartment on the second floor before exiting the front door. The fire alarm was triggered within the same minute the two exited the building.
VirtuGuard™ inspected further, finding that the male exiting the building holding cigarette-like object that was lit. Agents recorded video, captured screenshots of the two residents, and wrote a detailed description of the event and the individuals responsible.
VirtuGuard™ then provided this information to the property manager so that they could issue a fine or lease violation to the resident who lit a cigarette-like object inside the building and unnecessarily triggered the fire alarm, disturbing the other residents of the building.
