THE PROBLEM:
An automotive dealership was concerned about trespassing and theft on their property after the hours of operation. Outdoor assets can be difficult to secure in high traffic areas and car dealerships can be popular targets of theft due the high value of products on the property. Additionally, the ownership recently became aware of a homeless encampment that was on their property illegally. While the people living there were ordered to leave by local law enforcement, it can be a difficult ruling to enforce. THE INCIDENT:
Late one night, VirtuGuard™ Command Center Agents were conducting a proactive virtual patrol of the property when they observed a man and a woman smoking an unknown substance. An Agent delivered two audio announcements through the dealerships intercom system, instructing the suspects to leave the private property or police would be called. The suspects did not comply with the voice commands and VirtuGuard™ immediately called local law enforcement to report the trespassing event. Police arrived minutes later and began searching both suspects and their belongings. They found drugs and paraphernalia. Both the man and woman were arrested on outstanding warrants and drug charges. In addition, a BOS Security Supervisor reported to the scene to bar both suspects from the property for two years.
