VirtuGuard™ vs. Remote Monitoring Competitors: How We Compare

What Is a Housing Video Audit?

Remote guarding is a quickly evolving industry that aims to promote commercial and residential security through advanced technology. Building off of traditional physical security services and surveillance capabilities, remote guarding promotes proactivity over reactionary measures.

Continue reading to learn about the top remote guarding service providers and how they compare to VirtuGuard™ remote monitoring.

Stealth Monitoring Alternative

Command Center Locations

Stealth Monitoring was founded in 2003 and has grown to consist of 7 Command Centers and 40 offices. While based in the United States, Stealth Monitoring operators are frequently not located in the US. Potential language barriers and lack of familiarity with geographic context of the site they’re monitoring can make their services less effective.

Equipment & Hardware

Stealth Monitoring typically requires clients to install their GeoVision manufactured equipment, creating an additional cost and limiting the capabilities of other remote monitoring technologies.

Contract Length

Stealth Monitoring requires each client to sign a 3–5-year contract. Should a client be dissatisfied with the service, they may have no choice but to remain under the contract or face costly legal expenses.

Deep Sentinel

Command Center Locations

Deep Sentinel manufactures security systems and security cameras that can be monitored in real-time by security professionals. While their Surveillance Center is located within their headquarters in California, the company also reports using satellite offices for overflow and overnight surveillance.

Equipment & Hardware

Deep Sentinel typically requires clients to install their manufactured security cameras and systems at an additional cost. However, their guard monitoring services are also compatible with a few third-party brands, including Univision.

Contract Length

A minimum one-year contract is required for Deep Sentinel monitoring service customers. After the first year, customers can then renew their contract on a monthly or annual basis.

Edgeworth Security

Equipment & Hardware

Edgeworth Security integrates with a limited number of Video Management Systems (VMS). This limits the technology Edgeworth is able to monitor. Customers may be required to purchase new cameras and other equipment to be compatible with Edgeworth monitoring services.

Contract Length

When a customer chooses Edgeworth to be their monitoring provider, they are locked into a contract for a minimum of three years. If a customer has concerns about the services being provided, there is little incentive for improvements to be made. Additionally, if a customer wishes to end their contract early, whether it be due to dissatisfaction with the services, budget constraints, or another concern, they may have no choice but to remain in the contract or face costly legal expenses.

Pro-Vigil Remote Monitoring

Command Center Locations

While the Pro-Vigil headquarters in Texas houses a primary Security Operations Center, the company also has monitoring centers overseas. Potential complications due to geographical and language barriers can pose issues to the way incidents are handled.

Contract Length

Pro-Vigil requires customers to sign three-year contracts when implementing their remote monitoring services. Only after those three years can clients choose to renew their contract on a yearly basis.

Sirix Monitoring

Command Center Locations

Sirix Monitoring has headquarters in the United States and Canada. At this time, Sirix is only able to provide their services to partners and clients located in the United States and Canada.

Partner Programs

Sirix Monitoring operates purely as a third-party service provider for channel partners. Sirix does not provide services directly to client themselves, but provides services for their channel partners’ clients.

Contract Length

Sirix Monitoring requires clients to enter into a 2–3-year contract when receiving their services. If a client wishes to end their contract early for any reason, early termination fees will be applied.

Birdseye Security

Command Center Locations

Birdseye Security has offices in Chicago and Toronto, where they run their monitoring operations. However, Birdseye also employs people in Serbia, outsourcing some positions to overseas workers.

Contract Length

Most monitoring companies, including Birdseye Security, require clients to enter into a 2-5 year contract. These contracts are binding, and if a client wishes to end their agreement early, they may face legal costs or early termination fees.

What Sets VirtuGuard™ Apart from Our Competitors

VirtuGuard™ is a remote monitoring service offered by BOS Security, Inc. With over three decades of experience in providing physical security services, to commercial and residential businesses and government contracts, BOS combines this expertise with state-of-the-art security technology.

Command Center Location

The VirtuGuard™ Command Center is located within our headquarters in Athens, Georgia. Each Command Center Agent is based in the United States. Our Agents are native English speakers, easing communications with callers, Security Guards, Police Officers, and more. Additionally, your data will never leave the U.S. and is protected and encrypted.

Equipment & Hardware

VirtuGuard™ is equipment-agnostic. We work with hundreds of major camera manufacturers and can likely work with a client’s existing equipment, eliminating the need for new surveillance cameras or other equipment, greatly reducing potential costs. The BOS Security Technology team will integrate existing or new security infrastructure into our Command Center to detect and prevent incidents.

In addition to working with existing security technology, VirtuGuard™ can add on-site edge devices as needed to leverage several cloud-based services to enhance detections and enable faster responses. Even after a client has been fully onboarded, our Technology team continues to introduce innovative technologies to improve efficiency and Agent responses.

Law Enforcement Liaison

BOS Security has a team of retired law enforcement officers on our management team. Our retired officers liaise with a client’s local law enforcement to ensure effective responses to a property when Agents call. By building and maintaining a relationship with local law enforcement agencies and explaining the reasons for Agent calls, a client property typically gets a faster and better response from police. An added benefit is that Agents can provide real-time information to dispatchers about the movements of suspects and any potential threats to officers, giving law enforcement added safety when they respond.

This team of retired officers conduct daily reviews of calls from the day prior. They use recordings as training opportunities to improve the way our Agents respond to future calls.

Agent Training

VirtuGuard™ Agents are trained firsthand by security technology experts when they first begin their new position. Agents and Command Center Managers work from physical Command Centers, giving new and existing Agents opportunities to learn directly from more experienced individuals and ask relevant questions as they occur.

The VirtuGuard™ Agent training period is extensive and ongoing. The IT team is constantly making improvements to artificial intelligence, response procedures, reporting, and more to ensure clients are receiving the best service possible. These improvements are conveyed to Agents as they occur so that each Agent is up-to-date and prepared to complete their job responsibilities to the best of their ability.

In addition to receiving training on how to utilize security technology and video management systems, VirtuGuard™ Agents also take courses on report writing and best communication practices. Communicating details to law enforcement and clients is crucial to crime prevention and protecting client properties. Agent training is always evolving as the video monitoring industry evolves.

Additional Services

In addition to providing VirtuGuard™ remote monitoring services, BOS Security still offers Security Guard services to residential and commercial properties.

Under VirtuGuard™, these additional services are offered:

  • Virtual Escorts
  • Proactive Patrols

VirtuGuard™ has a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you are not pleased with our services, you are not locked under a binding contract. VirtuGuard™ personnel work closely with clients to ensure that every security concern is addressed and reduce crime or unwanted incidents.
